National Coil Coating Association Member Site

Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame Award is a unique opportunity to honor the visionaries and leaders in the coil coating industry. Since its inception in 1992, 34 coil coating visionaries have been inducted into the Hall of Fame for their outstanding contributions to the industry by promoting the use of decorative and function coil coated metal. These individuals stimulated the interest of members of the association and represented the industry to the public.

Criteria

Purpose
To recognize and honor individual members of NCCA who have made outstanding contributions to the organization and the coil coating industry.

Presentation
To be made at NCCA’s Annual Meeting in the year the award is rendered.

Eligibility
Candidate must have been:

  • An active participant in the association for at least 15 years and either be retired or out of the industry for 3 years.

  • An active committee chairman, an officer, or similar responsibility, for a minimum of five years, contributing to the growth and well being of the association.

  • An active promoter of NCCA and the coil coating concept in the industrial/commercial marketplace.

  • An industry recognized spokesperson for NCCA in publications, seminars and industry meetings.

  • A good public image example for NCCA and the coil coating industry and an active participant at the NCCA Annual and Fall Meetings, including serving on various NCCA committees.

In order to be a recipient of the NCCA Hall of Fame Award, a candidate must meet at least four of the five criteria listed above and receive a 60% majority of those voting as the selection committee. On very special occasions, the Hall of Fame selection committee may consider individuals in a pioneer category who have been extremely important to the industry, but who may not have met the NCCA membership requirements. In this case the candidate must receive an 80% majority of those voting as the selection committee.

Entry Criteria

  1. Nomination of a candidate can only be made by the official representative of the member companies or by a former president of NCCA and will be limited to a maximum of one per member company or one per former president per year. If an individual is nominated and is not accepted the first time, the nomination can be resubmitted the next year. If it is not accepted the second time, the nomination will then be ineligible for further consideration.

  2. The selection committee must receive entries no later than the published deadline.

  3. A maximum of three inductees per year has been established.

Judging

The executive committee will review all nominations submitted to confirm that the candidate meets the eligibility requirements. The executive committee for this purpose is defines as the president, vice president, treasurer, member-at-large, and the immediate past president.

Those nominations meeting the eligibility requirements will then be submitted to the selection committee, who will determine who will be inducted into the NCCA Hall of Fame, following the previous eligibility guidelines and voting majorities. The selection committee will consist of the past presidents of NCCA, and the immediate past president will serve as chairman of the selection committee.

All candidates to be inducted into the NCCA Hall of Fame must be approved by the NCCA Board of Directors.

A member of the executive committee, as described above, cannot be a nominee until that individual no longer serves on the executive committee.

If a recipient is no longer living, the next of kin will be invited to the award ceremony to participate in the Hall of Fame induction. A picture of the deceased will be a part of the award ceremony.

Remarks

We must do all that we can to ensure that this program never becomes subject to criticism of unfairness or bias in any way. It is a warm and welcome way for NCCA to acknowledge and say "thank you" to a significant contributor and a deserving individual. Travel and hotel expenses will be paid by NCCA for inactive recipients or next of kin.
